Things To Do In Philadelphia

If you’re trying to reduce your environmental impact while you wander through the city, there is still plenty to see and do! To start, Philadelphia has one of the most walkable downtowns, so you can get a taste of the many historic sights by taking a self-guided walking tour (or biking tour!) through the city’s district neighborhoods and multicultural communities.

In addition to the neighborhoods of downtown, Philadelphia is home to over 10,000 acres of parks, squares, and recreation areas, so you’re sure to get your dose of the outdoors. It’s the perfect environment for hiking or a picnic on a nice day. You’ll also find your fair share of sustainable shopping, dining, and breweries or bars throughout Philadelphia.

Where To Eat

After working up an appetite touring the town, head to Philadelphia’s best vegan restaurants. One of our top choices includes VEDGE, which offers a modern plant-based dining experience created by James Beard-nominated Chefs Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby. The menu offers everything from main course favorites like fondue and carpaccio to cocktails and sweet treats.

In addition to VEDGE, you’ll find a slew of delectable Earth-friendly restaurants. If you’re looking to make your rounds for every meal, you’ll also want to check out All The Way Live, Goldie Falafel, and Unit Su Vege. Then head to Float Dreamery for dairy-free dessert – AKA, vegan gelato!

Where to Stay

Eco-conscious travel isn’t only about what you do and eat, but it’s also about where you choose to stay! Fortunately, Philly is home to several eco-friendly accommodations. Next time you’re in town, stay at the Palomar Hotel. Located in Rittenhouse Square, the hotel property includes an aeroponic garden system on its hotel roof. How cool is that? The hotel grows fresh vegetables without the use of dirt with a smaller space than traditional gardens. Have a bite to eat at the Palomar’s hotel restaurant if you want a taste of the garden’s ingredients for yourself!
