12 Mar Seed Phytonutrients and Ecologic are paving the way in Sustainable Packaging
The first thing one will notice when looking at a bottle of Seed Phytonutrients is the packaging. It is unlike any packaging in the beauty industry today. This interesting light brown bottle is the brainchild of a partnership between Seed Phytonutrients and Ecologic.
Together, they have created the first shower-friendly paper bottle, made of 100% post consumer recycled paper. The bottle has interlocking closures so there is no need for glue and contains a very thin post consumer recycled liner inside the bottle for even less waste. The pumps can be recycled through a partnership with TerraCycle, making for completely sustainable packaging.
When researching this innovative brand, you learn that founder Shane Wolf developed Seed Phytonutrients through his work with L’Oreal. His goal was to create a natural and sustainable beauty brand that supports independent organic American farmers and has environment at its core. Seed Phytonutrients supports these farmers by paying for 100% of the crop up front, so that the farmers can “reinvest in their farms and plan for their future harvests.”
The concept was to develop a product with “seeds at the heart.” By safely extracting the oils of the seed, the nutrients remain in their purest form. The seeds are then cold pressed to ensure the highest quality. What is left of the seed is returned to the farmers for organic feed and compost for the animals and the soil.
