Here, we provide a list of the top 5 yoga festivals in the U.S. where you can expand your horizons and move further along in your yoga journey – although some of these are in early spring, it’s never too soon to mark them on your calendar for next year!
1. Sat Nam Fest – August 7-11 in Lenox, Massachusetts
This fall, the wildly popular Kundalini Yoga and music festival launches its first ever 100% benefit festival. Touted as an “opportunity to immerse yourself in the joy, transformation, and rejuvenation of Kundalini Yoga,” this festival aims to help nurture your creativity as you “re-discover and return to your true self.” A variety of teachers, workshops, and classes – including energetic yoga with live music and relaxed meditation – offer something for yogis in every stage of their journey. While the festival has always donated a portion of its proceeds to the Sat Nam Foundation, the founders plan to donate 100% of those earned from this special fall event to the service-based non-profit.
2. Burlington Yoga Conference – April 13-14 in Burlington, Vermont
The 10th annual Burlington Yoga Conference is held in an idyllic lake-front city known for its focus on health, natural living, organic food, and – of course – yoga. Beloved by attendees as a “great place to practice, connect, and retreat,” this festival offers plenty of opportunities to build your strength and restore your energy. Workshops feature acro yoga, kids’ yoga, mindfulness, prana flow, yin, and much more.
3. Texas Yoga Conference – April 19-21 in Sugar Land, Texas
Founded by the Texas-based non-profit Breathe the Cure, the mission of this festival is to “educate adults and youth about the health benefits of yoga and contemplative practices.” You will find a wide variety of workshops, learning materials, and classes, as well as local and national vendors showcasing the latest in yoga gear, apparel, and more. A particularly distinctive aspect of this festival is its educational focus, bringing in doctors to help attendees understand Integrative Health. These experts “strive to help you improve your quality of life, achieve your wellness goals, and heal your body to live your best life possible.”
4. YogaMusic Fest – April 26 in San Luis Obispo, California
If you’ve ever wondered what yoga would be like in a dance party environment, YogaMusic Fest is your cup of tea. Set against the backdrop of San Luis Obispo’s gorgeous oceanscape, the one-of-a-kind YogaMusic Fest is part of a full-day marathon race and community program. Featuring live DJ’s, performance artists, and speakers, this event gives attendees an opportunity to #BESLOWILD and participate in fun yoga-dance party workouts. Then, refuel your energy with a wide array of vegan and gluten-free food, cold brew, kombucha, and more.
5. Soul Yoga Fest – July 5-7 in Chicago, Illinois
Presented by the Chicago Park District’s Yogaskills Kimetic Yoga organization, Soul Yoga Fest bases its deeply-rooted approach in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King: “rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.” The largest black yoga festival in the world, the event is a “free celebration of movement, food, culture, and holistic living.” This year’s lineup features Caroline Shola Arewa of Energy for Life Wellness Coach Training, as well as a full schedule of workshops and classes led by master instructors.
